Summer Program 2025
Join the Educate Youth Summer Program 2025!
Educate Youth has offered free, safe summer programming for Ypsilanti teens since 2011, starting with a single week of academics and service work at the public library. Over the years that simple idea has grown into a multi-week season of study help, creativity, field trips, and community service—all designed to keep young people learning, connected, and inspired when school is out.
For summer 2025 we will run two separate options. Students entering eighth grade or higher are welcome to enroll in either program or in both.
Educate Youth Summer Program
From July 1 through August 8 we meet Tuesday through Friday, 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Clubhouse, 104 South Huron Street. Each afternoon blends focused academics with hands-on activities:
- daily math practice and Buddy Reading
- art, music, and other enrichment sessions
- weekly outings—swimming, gardening, tie-dye, and more
- a hot meal plus fresh fruit and snacks
Older participants also receive college-planning advice, mentorship from caring adults and peers, and the option to connect with Michigan Works! for a paid work placement. Everything is free of charge, including school supplies and a small attendance stipend.

Buses & Books – Monday Reading Club
In partnership with Our Community Reads, Buses & Books runs every Monday from June 30 to August 11, 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Students ride the city bus together to a different local library each week, explore a chosen book, and talk about it in small groups. Along the way they collect free AAATA bus tokens, new books to keep, and plenty of memories. The club turns reading into an adventure, strengthens public-transport skills, and builds a love of literature and neighborhood life.
